Weekend to Workout | What This Busy Mama Wears

These days, I'm rarely seen outside the house with real pants on. Come on, you know you do it, too. I love that nice yoga pants are perfectly acceptable attire now, as long as you style them right! Thank goodness because I feel like at this stage of life with two toddlers, every minute of every day is a workout. I'm here with a Weekend to Workout style post to share how I go from coffee shop to YMCA on a Saturday with a few quick-change (literally) tricks.

Start with the basics.

Here, I'm wearing pretty much head-to-toe Victoria's Secret, minus the shoes. My pants are their original Sport line "tights" in a high-waisted, full-length fit for that flat belly compression we mamas love. I'm obsessed with these because the fabric is so thick that you don't have to ever worry about see-through or... ahem... camel toe. They also hold up fabulously (I wash mine on gentle and tumble dry on low) and look sleek enough to pair with nice boots and a dressier top for going out.

My bralette is a strappy VS Pink one that I got during the semi-annual sale. I always wear a black bra when I've got on a white t-shirt. I like to think of it as kind of a signature style move but I'm definitely not original or super fashionable so it's probably a thing that I thought I made up and didn't. Anyway, it's just a super basic, unpadded bralette but I love that you can see the super strappy back through my shirt when I'm at the gym. It makes me feel kinda sexy and trendy without revealing too much.

The shirt is a VS Angel basic that was probably meant to be pajamas but I don't care. I'm a sucker for a nice white tee and this one is buttery soft and perfectly drapey.

I did not intend for this to read like a VS commercial, I promise! The takeaways are...

1. Get GOOD yoga pants. I know it's painful to pay for them but let me tell you, it's worth it to have nice ones that you can get double the use out of and that you know will hold their shape (and yours!)

2. Allow your basics to feel just as sexy and put-together as the rest of your outfit. That doesn't necessarily mean spending a lot on all of these pieces. The point is just to easily swap from dressy to sporty and back, without having to change your whole outfit.

Dress it up for weekend running (not the sporty kind)

I layered my basic tee with a trendy sweater that I impulse-purchased on Brickyard Buffalo for a song. I Love that it's long enough to cover my bum and wraps around to keep me warm. I threw on an understated long gold necklace and my favorite tall brown boots to complete the Weekend part of this look! Easy-peasy. We ran to the grocery store and the coffee shop with our kids before heading to the YMCA and I felt perfectly cute and put-together.

Break it down for hitting the gym

After the coffee shop, we went straight to the YMCA. I removed my necklace and sweater and changed my shoes to a pair of black Vans that I wear on leg day. I felt just as cute while I was working out as I did earlier in the day, which boosts my confidence in the gym. I brought along the freebie hot pink glass water bottle that I got for free with my purchase at.... Victoria's Secret (duh) and I was ready to go!
